: Born into an affluent family in Kathiawad, Gujarat, Ganga aspired to be a Bollywood actress. At age 16, she eloped to Mumbai with her father's accountant, Ramnik Lal, only to be betrayed and sold into a brothel in Kamathipura for ₹500.
