Adobe recently removed most built-in Pantone color libraries from Illustrator due to a licensing change, moving them to the subscription-based extension. If you need to restore these colors, you have three primary paths: using the official extension, a manual file-copy workaround, or free community alternatives like Freetone. 1. The official way to access up-to-date Pantone libraries (over 15,000 colors) is through the Pantone Connect Extension . Adobe Exchange Marketplace.

If you have an older version of Illustrator or a backup, you can manually copy the legacy .acb (Adobe Color Book) files into your new installation. Pantone Connect | Adobe Exchange

Click Free Install (or Acquire ) on the Exchange page. Open your Creative Cloud desktop app, go to the Plugins tab, and click Install .
